The Democratic National Committee (DNC) said they are proud to have a long history of shared values with the Asian American Pacific Islander, or AAPI, community.
And they’re hoping these strong ties would grow with the help of Filipino American leader John Santos – who has been promoted to AAPI political director to develop and promote the party’s outreach efforts to AAPI communities.
While serving all AAPI’s, Santos hopes to get more engagement from fellow Fil-Ams.
“To me, it’s all about how do we mobilize the community, right? How do we make sure Asian Americans, Filipino Americans, are voting? And what I see is the DNC right now is the party that’s really committed to doing that.”
Santos most recently served as the DNC’s western regional press secretary and AAPI media director.
He is also a u-s army veteran who served as deputy press secretary for the combined joint task force – operation Inherent Resolve during his deployment in Kuwait and Iraq.
Despite the long list of presidential candidates for the Democratic party, Santos is confident his party will nominate the best choice leading up to the 2020 race.
“Personally, any of any one of them would be better than Trump. And whoever wins I will definitely you know, work hard, work my butt off to make sure that they’re elected.”
Santos previously served as the health policy assistant director for the American Legion and chair for communications at Kaya: Filipino Americans for Progress.
