HOLLYWOOD – It’s Christmas season at the Hollywood and Highland Center and kicking off the festivities with her own songs and Christmas classics is Filipino-American Jessica Sanchez, the American Idol Season 11 runner up.

With the holidays comes the spirit of giving, and for Sanchez, her heart is in the Philippines where typhoon Yolanda struck last week killing thousands.
Sanchez announced she will do a concert and a song to benefit the victims.

The first benefit concert will take place online on www.stageit.com on Friday night at 5 p.m. Pacific time.

“We’re doing a little mini concert on stageit.com. You can get your tickets on stageit.com and they’re only $10 all the proceeds go to the Red Cross. We’re working on a song right now I just wrote it not too long ago to help with the typhoon victims in the Philippines,” Sanchez said.

The San Diego teen whose mother hails from Bataan had visited Manila twice this year.

While the stageit.com will be her first effort, she said she will continue to lend her talents for disaster relief especially when she makes her 3rd Philippines trip of the year later this month.

“I’m going over there in a couple weeks for the Starky event. It’s insane how this came out of nowhere and we planned this like 6 months ago and hope I get to help with the typhoon stuff,” she said.

Among her stops, Sanchez said she will also team with Manny Pacquiao for other relief efforts. She will be traveling to Macau next week to meet with the Pacman and to attend his fight against Brandon Rios.
