Jerwin Ancajas and Jonas Sultan, who become the first Filipinos to fight for a world title in 93 years, received a warm welcome from the Filipino community in Los Angeles.
While Sultan arrived with Donnie Nietes, and Marc Anthony Barriga accompanied Ancajas, they were greeted by a handful of LA-based Filipino fighters as well as some tiny fight fans.
While Sultan had been training in Los Angeles the past two weeks, Ancajas arrived on Wednesday.
He says he’s already adjusted to the climate and is continuing his conditioning prior to the fight.
Both fighters will head to Fresno on Monday for the fight week festivities.
With the fun the two combatants had, it shows after the punches are traded — boxing has the power to bring Filipinos together, even from opposite corners.
