REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – In light of last week’s tornado tragedy in Cape Charles, Va. that took the lives of a Filipino couple from New Jersey, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and Jersey City Youth Foundation have decided to dedicated half of the money raised on Tuesday at a school supplies fundraiser to the three children the deceased couple left behind.

Lord Balatbat and wife Lolibeth Ortega, both 38-years old, were killed when a tornado toppled a tree that fell on their tent while on a camping trip in Virginia last week.

The three Balatbat children were among the dozens of people injured after the tornado swept through the camp site.

The fundraiser will be held at the Zeppelin Hall Restaurant and Biergarten in Jersey City on Tuesday.
