Jersey City Filipinos sound off on PNoy’s actions in Mamasapano mission

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – After the release of a Philippine Senate joint committee report that showed President Benigno Aquino III was ultimately responsible for the bloody Mamasapano mission, some calls for Aquino’s resignation or impeachment surfaced.

Filipinos in New Jersey weighed in.

Ruby Revilleza of Piscataway, N.J. said, “Being the father of the land, it’s his full responsibility, his action, and decision. He has to be the one at fault.”

Union, N.J. resident Chit Sikat said, “Bakit naman kailangan kaagad i-impeach, or ipag-resign? Mag-isip-isip din tayo. Baka mamaya ang pumalit diyan ay worse pa. Ay Diyos ko eh, di lalong naghirap ang bansang Pilipinas.”

Anti-Aquino groups want a transition council to conduct elections.

Some say they’re against Vice President Jejomar Binay to succeed Aquino.

“Ayoko po siyang maging president, si Binay, kasi pinaganda nga niya yung Makati. Pero lahat ng projects na pinagawa nila like may kurakot din,” Agatha Ramos of Ewing, N.J. said.

“So kung sinasabi ng ibang tao na magresign siya or i-impeach siya, sa akin ituloy na lang niya muna. Bigyan natin siya ng pagkakataon na straighten-up niya yung kanyang mga landas na tuwid niya na nabaluktot,” Jersey City’s Tony Abellar said.

Philippine Senator Grace Poe said that she agonized over the Senate committee report which said President Aquino was ultimately responsible for the failed Mamasapano operation.

But it’s not too late for the president to take responsibility.

“It’s always best to ask for forgiveness if you feel you made a mistake or error. Asking for forgivenes is not just saying sorry, it’s also offering what you need to do so the situation will be better, so that people will believe you are sincere about your pronouncement,” said Poe.

She also said that while an apology might not politically benefit Aquino – it’s always best to do the right thing.

Kuya, i am not trying to be critical of you! However, it seems as though your line is a day late and a dollar short. In the perspective of battle, you the president shall decide who is best suited to hunt down terrorist groups in the Mamasapano area. Of course, the actual ground work is not done by the president himself. In this case, the president approached Purisima, who is not the best person to begin with. I don’t know about Napenas and Espina, they seemed to be off the tract every time they start talking. With the way PNPSAF coordinated operation exodus that led to multiple casualties, they need to go back and do more real world training. In the mean time, the Army or Marines should have been the primary choice of force to step foot in Mamasapano. They have extensive experience in the area, fully familiar of the area and they are better equipped.

Kuya, according to your uncle Manny Villar, by looking at the big picture, Pnoy has/have done a lot of good for the Philippines over the last six years of his term.
