Jeepney filipino gastropub unveils pin-up of activist-model Geena Rocero

NEW YORK CITY — The celebration for Geena Rocero’s historic debut on Playboy Magazine continues in New York, as her new pin-up was unveiled on the walls of Jeepney Filipino gastropub in NYC.

Rocero, a trangender Filipina, is Playboy’s August 2019 playmate — making history as the first trans Asian American Pacific Islander playmate in Playboy’s 65 years of existence.

To immortalize this moment, Rocero’s very own pin-up has been posted on the famed walls of Jeepney Filipino gastropub.

Jeepney’s walls are known for their iconic Pinay pin-ups, like German Playboy’s first Pinay cover and centerfold, Tetchie Agbayani on their July 1982 edition, and U.S. Playboy’s April 1967 playmate, Gwen Wong.

To be eating here, looking at all the iconic pictures of Tetchie and everybody, and to now have my own wall, at my own section, it’s just incredibly exciting,” said Rocero.

Playboy playmate manager Kristi Beck, who discovered Geena on Instagram, says Jeepney is the perfect place for Geena’s Playboy pin-up, as Playboy enterprises CEO Ben Kohn had a great dinner at Jeepney recently.

It was a proud day for members of the LGBTQ plus community in New York City, who are rooting for Rocero’s continued success.

“Geena, with the platform that she has, she uses that in order to propel her career and also to spread the word that it’s ok to be trans — it’s ok to be part of LGBT community,” said Erica San Miguel.

Geenas’ month-long celebration continues. Next stop – a cocktail party for playboy’s august playmate at the Standard hotel with DJ Tito Vida and executive chef Angela in attendance.
