LAS VEGAS — The triathlon is a fast-rising sport that has grown exponentially. Meet Epoy, the Pinoy “Ironman” who broke records in his division.
The Ironman triathlon is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events, consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and a 26.22-mile marathon run, without a break.
26-year-old Deo Erik Paolo Timbol, or “Epoy,” participated in Ironman triathlon in Arizona as part of Team Philippines.
At 9 hours, 39 minutes and 31 seconds, Timbol sets the new record for fastest Pinoy on his “age group” in an amateur division.
