Indiana Pinoy suffers life-threatening injuries from hit-and-run crash

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino doctor in Indiana is still in intensive care in the hospital after he became the victim of a violent hit and run crash more than a week ago.

Authorities say Conrad De Jesus was jogging near downtown Evansville the night of April 15 when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver.

The driver, 22-year-old Travis Cox, was arrested and faces multiples charges which include criminal recklessness, aggressive driving, and hit and run with serious bodily injury.

Authorities say Cox was driving the wrong way with his lights off, and was even doing donuts in the middle of the intersection.

After the crash, Cox allegedly drove away and got his truck stuck in flood waters.

Cox is due back in court late next month.

Officials say De Jesus is suffering from life-threatening injuries.
