REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Advocates are now giving President Obama an immediate to-do list when it comes to fixing the country’s broken immigration system.

This comes a day after Obama announced that the comprehensive immigration reform bill is dead and that he will take matters in his own hands by passing executive orders.

Among the top issues immigrant rights advocates from AFL-CIO and the National Council of La Raza want the president to address — halting deportations and giving millions of undocumented immigrants work permits.

Advocates say President Obama needs to act fast to curb deportations which have reached a record-high of about two million under his term.

They also want Obama to issue an executive order on a provision in the Senate version of the comprehensive immigration reform bill which seeks to provide work permits to about 11 million undocumented people in America.

its a good sign the californians from murrieta are waking up, blocking the entry of illegal aliens in their well kept town. they know well enough the experiences of other towns, only financial/social chaos are what these illegal aliens will bring to their stable neighborhood.

Bottom line, this is more than about immigration. This is about defending the constitution and upholding the rule of law. I am bound by oath, we all are as your representatives, to uphold the constitution of the United States. Presidents are not kings, and shouldn’t be allowed to act as such. We must protect our separation of powers. We must not allow a President to make law on their own. This is a crossroads for America. It’s time to get engaged.
