Houston Congressman calls for impeachment of Pres. Trump

HOUSTON, TX — Houston Congressman Al Green last week became the first member of Congress to go to the House of Representatives floor and call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

“No one is above the law, and that includes the President of the United States of America!,” said Green.

Green’s call for impeachment was triggered by the firing of FBI director James Comey, and prior to news breaking that the president reportedly disclosed classified information to Russian officials.

President Trump denies any wrongdoing.

Congressman Green held a town-hall meeting Saturday in his congressional district in Houston, calling for the members of his district to rally behind him, and to support the charges he made against President Trump on the house floor earlier this week.

“I think Trump has just crossed the line here,” said student Kaesena Orette. “Trump needs to be impeached.

“For the congressman, I totally support him,” said Dawn Lin, a Houston businesswoman. “He’s woken up my conscience… I want to look at the interest for all of the Americans. And I think this is the right thing to do.

But Green’s call for impeachment has also been met with strong opposition. During the town hall meeting, Green played recordings of threatening voicemail messages Trump supporters left for him, after his floor speech on Wednesday.

“Friends, I want to assure you, that no amount of threats or intimidation will stop what I have started,” he said. “I promise you, we are going to continue with this.”

“I am not polling the House. I have not asked anyone to support me,” he told reporters. “I am not lobbying. This is a question of conscience. And I am doing what my conscience requires.”

To bring articles of impeachment against a president requires a majority vote in the House of Representatives.

When the case is tried by the Senate, a vote of at least 2/3 of those present is required to convict and remove the president from office.

Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only two presidents to have been successfully impeached by the House of Representatives, and both were later acquitted by the Senate.

This is a media publicity for Democrat Congressman Al Green by calling for Trump impeachment. It is a long way to go or IMPOSSIBLE to impeach Trump. There are 435 Congressional seats, GOP-237, Dem-193, 5-Vacant. Democrat should win 25 seats to control majority of the House, There are 100 seats in the Senate, GOP-52, Dem-48, it need 66 seats to impeach the President. The defeat of HClinton ended the Democrat ambition of “NO-GOP President for the next 100 yrs”.If Trump survived for the next 4-8 yrs, America will have 75-100 yrs of conservative ideology. This is one of the reason why the Dems-left, Deep State want to bring down Trump ASAP.Trump is becoming stronger and more powerful everyday.Today, he had a successful foreign trip in the ME, Vatican and American TV audience had seen him very Presidential.
