Hotshots’ Daniel Orton booted from PBA over Pacquiao insult

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A former NBA player who recently joined the Philippine Basketball Association has been kicked out of the league.

The reason? He called Manny Pacquiao’s basketball skills a joke.

Purefoods Star Hotshots’ center Daniel Orton was released by the PBA last week after making those comments about Pacquiao.

Orton, who played just three games with the Hotshots, was also fined $5,650.

PBA commissioner Chito Salud called Orton’s comments unwarranted and insulting.

Purefood’s top administrator Rene Pardo says it’s like Orton went to the US and insulted the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

So how did Pacquiao, who has scored just one point this season, react to Orton’s insult?

He told the Agence France-Presse, “It’s like this: No one has ever succeeded without being criticized.”

It’s absurd ! Iam completely appalled and embarrassed. I am a boxing fan of the PacMan but he’s making a mockery of politics and pro basketball. It’s a shame that the PBA Commish Salud doesn’t have the balls to accept the truth that PacMan is nowhere close to being a Professional player..The fact is he is not even good enough to be a US high school player yet alone a pro. And when and where did you see a person lose his livelihood because he spoke his mind and the truth… Nakakahiya tayong mga pinoy talaga!Only in the Philippines
