ANCHORAGE, AK- This is The Last Frontier, a state with more than 663,000 square miles of breathtaking landscape. This is Alaska, home to more than 25,000 Filipinos and most of them live in Anchorage.

Besides Alaska’s beautiful open spaces, there are two big draws for kababayans to live here — no sales tax and a dividend check residents get every year.

Sisters Arlene and Star Brocales and their other family members are so thankful because this month, almost every permanent resident of Alaska, even babies, got paid more than $1,800 as a dividend from the state’s Alaska Permanent Fund. The $1.1 billion pay-out is the third-biggest since the Alaskan government began paying people in 1980 to live in Alaska. The funds are mostly generated from oil revenues.

“People here are hardworking and they deserve to get a share of what the state gets,” said Arlene.

Star added, “We can send some money to the Philippines for our brothers and sisters. For me and my sisters here — it’s party time.”

For Erwin and Cheryl Chaargualaf and their kids, the benefits of living in Alaska have outweighed the harsh and long winters.

“Not only do we get a dividend every year, but here, they have a great medical and school system. We have a migrant program. There’s a lot of benefits,” pointed out Cheryl.

Erwin concluded, “We just give thanks to God most of all for these blessing and being here to reap these benefits.”

These Pinoy families said, the funds and benefits they received will go a long way, especially during the holiday season.

If you are workoholic, want to get rich early, live in Alaska, only citizen are allowed to get $1800 dividend money, that is your share from oil revenue. You can retire after 5-10yrs work, no sale tax, no property Tax. Alaska is a Republican controlled State, known as Sara Palin State, media hated her “drill baby drill” campaign. All posoy, majong huslers visit and lives in Alaska. Pinoys has so much money there. There is shortages on Hospital workers and the State pays good on independent caregivers.
