Redwood City, Calif – A bi-partisan senate panel is lending Filipino World War Two veterans a helping hand
in their fight for benefits. The senate Veterans Affairs Committee passed legislation that directs the
Veterans Affairs (VA)to review its service verification process and determine if certain individuals have the necessary service requirements for receiving specific Filipino veterans’ benefits.

More than 4,000 Filipino World War Two veterans allege that the VA unfairly rejected their benefits claim due to lack of documentation.

The bill’s author, Senator Dean Heller (NV-R) said Filipinos who fought the war defending America “are entitled to a fair and complete examination of their records.”
