LAS VEGAS – In an exclusive interview, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum warns the public to watch out and beware of people selling tickets that are not authenticated by the MGM, Mayweather Promotions, and Top Rank Promotions.
“Anybody who is selling a ticket to anybody is selling a fraudulent ticket so, people beware: as of now, not one ticket has been issued,” he said.
Arum added that because of the high-priced tickets, Pacquiao’s entourage will be limited.
This means that Pacquiao won’t be able to give out fight tickets to the members of the Philippine Congress who used to come to Las Vegas and watch his previous fights in first hand.
“With the ticket’s priced the way they are, even Manny can’t afford to fly in many people. That’s why a certain congressman is saying that Manny doesn’t want Filipinos to watch the fight because they can’t hit him up with for these expensive tickets,” said Arum.
The $150 tickets of previous Pacquiao fights are now priced approximately at $1,500 and the most expensive ticket price is the $10,000 seat equivalent to nearly half a million pesos.
Meanwhile, fight fans who can’t afford the hefty tickets will be able to purchase tickets to catch the fight live via closed circuit viewing exclusively at MGM Resorts properties. These are the only hotels and casinos that will be showing the fight.
“MGM has the side rights for the fight. As part of the side rights, they insert a provision that the closed circuit can only be shown in MGM hotels like Mandalay Bay, like Aria, like Bellagio. That was a provision that MGM inserted with the contract. As far as those people living in Las Vegas, they can watch the fight as usual on pay per view,” said Arum
Top Rank confirmed that because of the large amount of people who will be in town on the night of the fight, heightened security is already being planned to ensure public safety.
