REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Hawaii is bracing for the worst, as Tropical Storm Ana threatens to become a hurricane.

Meteorologists say the storm could be very close to the islands by Friday.

People in Honolulu stocked-up on food and supplies Wednesday.

Governor Neil Abercrombie signed an emergency proclamation for all of the islands.

This is the second time this year a storm has threatened Hawaii. In Early August, Tropical Storm Iselle caused significant damage, and this time around, residents need to be vigilant.

“If you look at this track and focus on the black line and you’re further away from the line, it’s necessarily time to just sit back and relax,” said Chris Brenchley, of the National Weather Service. “It’s a dangerous enough situation; folks need to continue to pay attention.”
