SAN FRANCISCO – “Mr. Pure Energy” Gary Valenciano celebrated a major milestone during the Pistahan Parade and Festival recently – he turned 50-years-old.
“I’m getting older but I don’t feel it,” said Valenciano. “Fifty for me right now is just a number.”
Another number Valenciano recently celebrated is 30. That’s how long he’s been in the showbiz industry. He said one of the key ingredients to his recipe for longevity is having a love for what he does.
“That’s one ingredient. But God, he’s just been so gracious in giving me one offer after the next,” said the superstar. “There have been things I’ve had to turn down, but the things I’ve
accepted are quite incredible – especially being an ambassador of The Filipino Channel.”
Although his career has spanned more than three decades, “Gary V.” said fans can expect even more from him in years to come.
“It’s not just music now. I’m looking at doing some productions that people can actually take home with them and watch it on their smart phones,” said Gary V., “But these are projects that are very far from what people have come to know me to do.”
Valenciano’s son, Gab, spent much time with his father during the birthday weekend. He said that while he’s proud of what his dad has accomplished in his 30-year career, he’s even prouder of what he’s been able to teach him as a parent.
“Giving the glory back to God – that really sticks with me, and I hope one day, when I do have kids of my own, I can bestow upon them the same morals and traits that my dad gave to me,” Gab said.
Citing TFC’s 20th anniversary slogan – “Galing ng Filipino, Ituloy mo” – Valenciano hopes that he’ll continue to accomplish his goals and have a positive impact on his fans.
“I dream of going back to acting,” said Valenciano. “I dream about going to places I’ve never been to before and perform there. I hope to fulfill these dreams during my 50th year.”
