LAS VEGAS – Former Survivor frontman Jimi Jamison is dead.

His songs topped the Billboard charts and became all-time hits.

One of the most popular songs of Survivor is the Grammy Award winning “Eye of the Tiger”, from the motion picture soundtrack of “Rocky 3”. The song was commonly used for Manny Pacquiao’s entrance music into the arena, and Survivor frontman Jimi Jamison had the opportunity to sing the song live for a couple of the Pacman’s fights.

Balitang America caught up with him back in 2012 during the Pacquiao-Marquez fight.

“It was amazing,” said the Survivor singer. “I’ve never done a fight like this big. I’ve got a lot of big fighters friends in the business who were really very big from the past, and this one was totally different.”

Jamison also expressed how much he admired Pacquiao.

“I’ve learned that Manny is a true humanitarian,” said Jamison. “He is a heart of gold, he is charitable, he doesn’t lie. He is a good person and he helps people out.”

Jamison passed away last Sunday due to a heart attack. He was 63-years-old.

As the long-time frontman of the multi-platinum band Survivor, Jimi Jamison may be gone too soon, but his music and legacy in the music world will continue to thrive in lounges and karaoke bars especially for Pinoys worldwide.
