NEVADA — A sentencing date has been set for a Filipina, who was convicted of scamming clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, while posing as a celebrity talent booker.
Prosecutors state that 44-year-old Filipino-Canadian Marlene Fitzgerald scammed her clients out of more than $230,000, with false promises that she would book A-list performers and celebrities for their events abroad.
In a court record, one of Fitzgerald’s victims from overseas says that he gave Fitzgerald $60,000 as a down-payment.
He was promised that she would bring Justin Bieber and Floyd Mayweather to his event, but it never materialized.
Fitzgerald’s sentencing is set for October.
