Filipinos venture out to national parks, despite restrictions in place amid the pandemic

UTAH — Taking a trip to the country’s national parks could get a little trickier amid the pandemic.

Many adventurous Filipinos traveled to fully-reopened parks, even with limited services (including trash pickup, visitor centers and restrooms).

Officials encourage people to visit the official National Park Service website to find out about closures and restrictions in place; to act responsibly by maintaining 6-ft social distancing; to wear facial coverings, and to stay home if you are sick.

This summer, national park visitors will notice things differently — such as new porta potties to reduce visitor contact in bathrooms, limited campground capacity, cashless transactions, online reservations and mobile visitors centers.
