Filipinos gather to defend sanctuary policy in Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA —  Controversy over California’s sanctuary state status has been sweeping across southern California since its enactment this year.

Despite cities making moves to opt out and have it revoked, communities are taking a stand to keep the policies that prohibit police from working with immigration officials when it comes to deportation.

A week before Los Alamitos holds the second sanctuary state ordinance hearing, immigrant rights groups gathered outside of the same city hall chambers that voted to sue the state of California over its sanctuary policies.
