Filipino worker recounts experience after recruiter pleads guilty to labor trafficking

NEW YORK — A Filipino labor trafficking survivor shares how his coming-out story has helped encourage other victims to come out and fight for their rights as immigrant workers abused by their employer.

Labor trafficking survivor Luis Belvis can now breathe a huge sigh of relief.

His former recruiter and manager Roberto Villanueva recently pleaded guilty to 2 counts of forced labor violations before a U.S. federal court in Central Islip, New York.
