REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Kababayans will soon have the opportunity to attend a forum designed to enhance the knowledge and skills in the field of science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The IDEA Symposium and Workshops will be held in Cebu City next week.
It is headed by Filipino-American tech giant Dado Banatao and the Philippine Development Foundation (PhilDev).
Recently in San Francisco, Banatao told Balitang America that the purpose of the symposium is to boost entrepreneurship in the Philippines.
“Entrepreneurship has been known as the fastest diffusion of wealth in the population,” said Banatao. “So we have to get it going otherwise what will happen is that the rich will keep getting richer and the poor is still poor. Entrepreneurship is the only known way that can break it down.”
Through the partnership of PhilDev and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the convention will feature successful entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley and many Filipino educators and government officials.
It will also be an opportunity to link start-up companies and venture capitalists with emerging technologies and expertise.
Banatao continues to call on other Fil-Ams in the technology field to give back to the Philippines.
“The experience here is always valuable and they can bring that over there and be that much better – whoever they work with, that knowledge can be infused to them,” said Banatao.
The first leg of the symposium will be held next week, February 27th through the 28th.
The second leg will be on July 9th through the 11th. Both workshops will be held at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City.
