Filipino national presumed to have perished in Northern California wildfires
BA has confirmed the identify of the first Filipino national presumed to have perished because of the California blazes.
Authorities said that on Saturday morning, two bodies were found at a home in this 1900 block of Soda Canyon Road in Napa, belonging to 90-year old Sally Lewis.
Lewis and her Filipina caregiver, 59-year old Teresa Santos, were reportedly in that home at the time of the fire.
Philippine Foreign Affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano has expressed condolences to the family of the Filipina victim.
Santos was originally from Bulacan, Philippines.
At least 41 people have been killed by the California blazes, as thousands of firefighters increase containment efforts.
More than 5,700 structures have been destroyed by the wildfires, and more than 217,000 acres have been torched.
