“Yellow Rose,” starring Eva Noblezada and Lea Salonga, is the first-ever Filipina-American film opening night presentation of the prestigious Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival which will be held this May.
Directed by Diane Paragas, it tells the story of a Filipino immigrant who is a country music singer.
While “Yellow Rose” is already on its exhibition stage, another movie by a Filipina filmmaker is starting its journey.
Filipina director Marie Jamora recently announced that she is raising funds for her new film “A Song for Myself.”
It’s a short film about a Filipina singer who faces struggles as an immigrant and an artist.
Jamora is aiming to raise $30,000 and already has lined up writer-activist Jose Antonio Vargas and actress-host G Tongi among its supporters.
