KALIHI, HI — The Honolulu emergency medical services has confirmed that a Filipino husband and wife are dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
The crime took place inside this Kalihi care home on Thursday afternoon.
Both have not been named and police have yet to determine which one of them pulled the trigger.
“So shortly before 3pm we got calls from our 911 system of report of possible gunshots at the location behind me. Officers arrived and we did find a female in her mid to late forties that was apparently wounded from a gunshot wound, so she was rushed to Queen’s Medical Center where she did expire. There was an adult male also in his mid-forties that appears lifeless and he’s still at the scene at this point,” says Captain Robert Towne from the Honolulu police department.
Officials shared that the shooting occurred in the downstairs area of the carehome, and that four other people were present when it occurred.
“Everything else pretty is much under investigation and we’re still learning things as it unfolds. I just don’t want people in Kalihi to think that there is a gunman running around there right now.”
This Kalihi facility, called the Community Care Foster Family Home, was licensed by the Department of Health.
Adult protective services were dispatched to help the displaced patients.
None of the patients were injured in the shooting.
Police are still investigating this apparent murder-suicide and will release more details as the investigation continues.
