Filipino fugitive wanted for 2003 murder arrested in California

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – After a decade of running from the law Ezra Dave Gipan Maling, a Filipino fugitive wanted for a 2003 murder in the Philippines, was recently arrested in California.

According to an email from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Maling was arrested on February 6th in San Francisco by special agents with ICE and Homeland Security.

The former church musical director at the Bay International Church in Hayward California was the only suspect in the killing of his former live-in partner Rebedy Graceda Vergara of Cainta Rizal, who was 24-years-old.

ICE says Maling remains in custody while immigration proceedings are pending and an immigration review will determine whether Maling has a legal basis to stay in the US.
