VIRGINIA BEACH — Filipino fashion designer Joseph Aloysius Montelibano came to impress at a recent event in Virginia Beach.

What made his collection even more impressive is that his creations were eco-friendly — made from sustainable banana and pineapple plants from fabric-making industries in India and the Philippines.

Proceeds from the event went to anti-human trafficking organizations, Virginia Beach Justice Initiative and The Butterfly House.

Consul general Renato Villa commended the efforts by the community because he said so many Filipino workers all over the world have been victimized by human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
