FILIPINO DESIGNED GOWNS SHINE AT GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.—Filipino designed gowns were hits on Sunday as the Hollywood Foreign Press handed out their Golden Globe trophies to the best in television and film for 2012.

“Modern Family’” vixen Sofia Vergara sparkled down the red carpet in a black sequined number designed by Filipino designer Michael Cinco.

Former “Dancing With The Stars” sensation Julianne Hough had a princess glow while she wore a Monique Lhuillier white tulle gown with gold sparkling embellishments.
Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino who also attended the Golden Globes, created the gowns worn by former Miss Universe Margaret Gardiner, Hollywood Foreign Press’ Janet Nepales, and model Bessie Badilla.

The 70th Golden Globe Awards delivered a show full of laughs through hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well as heartfelt speeches.

Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway spoke from the heart when they received their trophies for their roles in the film Les Miserables.

Jodie foster stunned the crowd when she confirmed rumors of her sexuality, when she received the Cecil B. De Mille Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud, right? I am…single. I’m kidding. I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age. There is no way I could ever stand here without acknowledging one of the deepest loves of my life, my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consigliore, most beloved BFF of 20 years, Cydney Bernard,” said Foster.

Ben Affleck, who made headlines for being snubbed by the Oscars, got his sweet revenge when he won best director for “Argo”.

Argo was also named best picture for drama.

Ruben Nepales, Board Chairman of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said picking the winners for the each of the categories was not an easy task.

“You really have to think about the merits of each of the nominees,” said Nepales. “Of course in the beginning, you have your favorites, because when you see great work, you’ll know right away.”
