LOS ANGELES, CA — It’s that time of the year for Filipino American History Month cultural celebrations, food, and Pinoy pride. Steve Angeles tells us how some of Los Angeles’s most high profile Filipinos were involved in this year’s Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture, the 26th year hosted by the LA-based cultural non-profit FilAm ARTS.
“It’s definitely a great experience. It’s my first time here,” said 24-year-old Laker, Jordan Clarkson, who came to the event. “It’s just good to have my family here, being able to come and support an event like this and learning more about my culture is definitely something I’ve been focusing on a lot recently. Just trying to connect to as many people as I can.”
A TFC hour with Clarkson, and Filipino musicians Apl.de.Ap and Jessica Reynoso is just a preview. The three have a music video coming out soon.
The 26th annual celebration was proof that while FPAC may only last for one day, LA’s Pinoys show their pride all year round.
