Filipino boxing fans tune in for Pacquiao victory against Algieri

While most of these Filipinos in Bayonne, NJ cheered for the Pacman, some Pinays had a soft spot for Pacquiao’s blue-eyed foe Chris Algieri.

“Sinong gusto sa pogi? Itaas ang kamay!” shouted one person, to claps and cheers.

But after 12 rounds and six knockdowns, the American fighter proved to be no match against the Filipino fighter.

“Sayang yung kaguwapuhan ni Algieri, pero lumaban naman,” said Myra Santiago, from Jersey City, NJ. “Guapo siya,” said Lydia Geib, “matangkad, maganda katawan, pero sa boxing talo siya kay Pacquiao dahil si Pacquiao magaling siya at mabilis. Magmudel na lang siya, mas maganda na at least mape-preserve niya ang kanyang kaguapuhan.”

Fans here in Bayonne, NJ say the Fighting Congressman is back in business.

“Bumalik na nga yung dating Pacquiao,” said Alfie Pangilinan. “Talagang malakas yung kanyang suntok.”
For Pacquiao’s loyal fans, this victory could only mean one thing.

“Pwede na siyang lumaban kay Mayweather,” said Joey Quiring, “susunod na yan.”

“The whole fight was just a practice fight for Manny to get ready for Mayweather,” said Leo Campoverde. “Algieri was not match for him all 12 rounds. No match.”

In LA, Filipinos rejoiced saying Pacman’s unanimous decision win was one of the best performances they have seen in years.

“It was really fun,” said Nikki Somo. “Pacquiao really dominated the game. It’s a great day for Filipinos.”

In Chicago, Filipinos also celebrated Pacman’s victory with a feast.

Meantime, Pacquiao’s latest Footlocker commercial poked fun at Team Pacman’s push for the most awaited fight of the decade between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
