Filipino arrested in Guam for alleged gun smuggling to Philippines

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A 38-year-old Filipino man was arrested in Guam last week for allegedly illegally shipping guns and gun parts from New Jersey to the Philippines.

Kirby Chung Santos was charged with conspiracy to export defense articles without first obtaining the required export license or written approval from the US Department of State.

Court documents show that Santos purchased firearm parts from distributors in Kentucky and Missouri.

He then requested that the parts be sent to an address in Toms River, N.J.

Court records also showed that Santos and co-conspirators exported at least $200,000 worth of guns and firearm parts from 2008 to 2013.

Santos, who was arrested in Guam last week and will be extradited to New Jersey by the U.S. Marshals Service.
