Filipino arrested for allegedly beating and robbing ex-wife

MASPETH, NY — After an extensive manhunt for Edmund Manuel, New York Police arrested and detained this Filipino for brutally attacking and robbing his Filipina ex-wife last June 30.

The 38-year-old estranged husband reportedly broke into her home near the corner of 69th place and 57th drive in Maspeth, New York.

Manuel tied her down using duct tape, beat her up brutally for several hours before stealing her phones, cash and car. He then fled the scene, according to a Queens Ledger report.

NYPD’s 104th precinct captain Christopher Manson also told the Queens Ledger that Manuel even took an icepick to slash her across the eye that left a big gash.

The extensive manhunt that placed Manuel on NYPD’s top priority list resulted in his arrest on July 29.

14 felony charges were filed against Manuel including assault with intent to cause serious injury, strangulation, burglary, robbery and grand larceny according to court records.

Bail was denied and Manuel remains in detention at the Vernon Bain floating Correctional Center at the Bronx.

Manuel was also arrested earlier in June (june 5) for assault and criminal contempt after violating an order of protection his ex-wife previously filed against him.

Balitang America visited the ex-wife’s home Sunday but she declined to comment at this time.

Manuel is scheduled to appeared at the queens supreme court Today, August 12.
