NEWARK, NJ – Miss World 2013 Megan Young’s New York visit comprised of meeting leaders and organizations, guesting on “Good Morning, America”, gathering with the Filipino American community, and raising $20,000 for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

Kahit maliit man na bahay o halaga.

She added: “This is for everybody back at home, not only for those that were a part of the tragedy back there but also for the heroes, the unsung heroes, the people on the ground helping those in need. Thank you for coming here tonight. From me and the Ms. World organization, we are all together as one. Thank you.”

The Philippines’ first Miss World got emotional as she shared her experience just seeing what her kababayans have been going through. She shared a message of hope during these trying times.

“Para sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo, hang in there,” she said.

Young is extremely grateful to the countless organizations and countries that have extended aid to the Filipino people.
“It gives me tears of joy to see these planes, these boats, these people come to our country and to help out wholeheartedly,” she said. “So thank you so much to them.”

The community is deeply touched by her compassion and extraordinary character. They could not be prouder of how she represents their beloved country to the global community.

“Megan’s message has a lot of depth and substance,” Erno Hormillosa said. “It really brings out who we are as Filipinos. We’re very proud of her to bring everyone here tonight. Good job!”

“Napakahusay niya,” Sol Dela Paz said.

As an ambassador of goodwill, Young hopes to inspire the world by showing them how Filipinos come together in such trying times.
She is scheduled to visit different Asian countries, including the homeland’s typhoon-hit areas, next week.
