REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The Bay Area Filipino-American teacher who was arrested last week after police learned he landed another teaching job while being probed for suspicion of child sex abuse plead not guilty Friday in court.

During his arraignment, Vallejo native Ron Guinto, 32, entered a not guilty plea to 27 charges, including forcible lewd acts on a minor, and forcible oral copulation on a minor.

The charges were filed by his former students from Making Waves Academy in Richmond who allege that he molested them during camping trips.

The crimes allegedly took place from December 2012 to October 2013.

Meanwhile, Guinto was reportedly set to take another group of six students on an unsanctioned camping trip to Yosemite this April for Spring Break.

Officials at Mira Vista Elementary in Richmond, where Guinto worked as a 7th grade teacher, said they did not know about the camping trip, even though Guinto reportedly used the school’s permission slips to obtain approval from the students’ parents.

Guinto was arrested last Wednesday after police learned he landed a new teaching job while being probed for sexual abuse.

Guinto remains in custody at the county jail in Martinez on $14 million bail. His next court date is March 28.
