REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Was President Barack Obama able to bridge the gap between him and his Republican opponents in Congress following his State of the Union Address?

Last night, President Obama vowed to act on his own if lawmakers don’t cooperate with him on his plans for 2014.

His Republican opponents have expressed that Obama must understand that his power is limited by the constitution and would not provide lasting solution for people.

House Speaker John Boehner says the real answer is for Obama to refocus his priorities, and work with Republicans on the issues that can benefit more Americans in the long run.

Because of his gap with the Republican Party, Obama failed to get many proposals passed in Congress last year—specifically on jobs, gun control and immigration.
