Fil-Ams join annual ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ in New York

NEW YORK — It’s that time of the year again, when random passengers ride the New York City subway in the middle of winter without their pants on. It’s the No Pants Subway Ride 2020 – organized by the comedy group, Improv Everywhere, and its founder Charlie Todd.

“As long as you take your pants off at some point, then make it to Union Square, you have done the No Pants Subway Ride.”

Now in its 19th year, this unusual tradition has spread to cities all over the world — including London.

The No Pants Subway Ride first started in New York City with the goal of just being silly and having some laughs.

“It’s actually fun and amazing, kasi nga you experience freedom of, like a form of art, it’s like once a year thing, and it’s crazy because it’s in the middle of winter,” said Ian Medrano.

“It’s just silly, I hate the cold, If I was gonna do it I’ll do it today, coz we got randomly good weather,” said Mike Vezza.

Participants said they get the most amazing reactions from unsuspecting passengers.

Someone came up to me, asked me why I wasn’t wearing pants, you do the script and you say like, I forgot them, and he was like did you know that there’s also this event where they take their pants off on the subway every year,

At the end of the daylong prank, no pants riders gathered at the Union Square park where the fun continued, promising to be back for more next year.
