REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino-American woman has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of New York.
Appointed by New York Mayor Bill De Blasio as the first every technology czar of New York, financial-technology veteran Minerva Tantoco will be placed at the helm of making the Big Apple the most tech-friendly and innovation-driven city in the world.
The Flushing Queens native is a product of New York City Public Schools. She graduated from Bronx Science High School and Vassar College.
In her position as Chief Technology Officer for UBS, Tantoco is responsible for the bank’s operations in the Asia Pacific region.
Tantoco holds four patents in artificial intelligence and workflow systems.
De Blasio said with Tantoco’s appointment as CTO of NYC, she will bring New York’s digital infrastructure into the 21st century.
