Fil-Am teen shot in the eye; family claims hate crime

Authorities in San Francisco are investigating the case of a Fil-Am teen who was shot through her eye in what her family claims was a hate crime.

Jessica Dimalanta, 19, was reportedly with her friends at an intersection on March 21 when multiple suspects exited the vehicle in front of them and opened fire on their car.

Aside from Dimalanta, one of her friends was also reportedly hit. The suspects allegedly fled the scene.

Dimalanta survived the incident but is said to be permanently impaired and unable to chew and speak without pain.

A gofundme page has been set up to help with expenses related to her recovery.
