Fil-Am teen murder suspect may be linked to earlier death threat

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – New information has emerged on the 15-year-old Filipino American murder suspect in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Adrian Jerry Gonzalez, who is accused of raping and killing 8-year-old Maddy Middleton, is believed to be tied to a death threat in 2014.

A report by San Francisco local station KRON 4 points out that the words “crippling anxiety” were used by Gonzalez to describe himself on his Instagram page prior to his arrest.

KRON 4 cites that in November, an unidentified person sent a threatening email to Santa Cruz High School, saying a high-powered rifle would be used to kill fellow students in the cafeteria.

Gonzalez was a sophomore there.

Following that threat, someone anonymously contacted a local newspaper to claim responsibility but said he was not homicidal — just a “thrill seeker who was wracked with guilt and had crippling anxiety”.

The report points out that this is that same phrase the teenager used on his Instagram page.
