Fil-Am teen allegedly a victim of hate crimes in San Bruno, friend’s parents charged

SAN BRUNO, CALIF. —  A Filipino American teen is reportedly the victim of a hate crime, according to authorities.

The unidentified 17-year-old, who is half Filipino, half African American, was reportedly visiting a 15-year-old girl at her family’s home last Thursday, when the girl’s biological father (Luisandro Suarez), her mother (Haydee Arguello) and stepfather Wilfredo Amaya arrived at 2:30 a.m., and found the teenaged boy in her bedroom.

They then allegedly physically assaulted him for about 30 minutes and threatened to kill him with a deadly weapon.

The victim told authorities that the suspects yelled at him using racial slurs.

The three suspects have been booked into the San Mateo County Jail and have been charged with a felony hate crime, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.
