Fil-Am political expert weighs in on new poll that shows more support for Trump impeachment

A new poll on the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump was released last Wednesday, and it’s not looking good for the White House.

President Trump continues to discredit and attack the impeachment inquiry.

His administration announced that there would be no cooperation with congress unless there’s an actual house vote to launch impeachment.

But their efforts seem to be failing.

A new Fox News poll shows that 51 percent of voters now favor impeachment and removal from office: a big difference from the same poll back in July, when only 42 percent of respondents supported removing Trump from office.

“You can tell by his Twitter storm that he’s had in the last couple of days that this man is worried,” said analyst Cheryl Quinio Blodgett.

What’s significant to point out in this poll, analysts said, is the increase in support for impeachment across a number demographics including among Republicans and independents.

Out on the campaign trail, former Vice President Joe Biden became the latest Democratic candidate to endorse impeachment.

“Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation, and committed impeachable acts. You know, to preserve our Constitution our democracy, our basic integrity, he should be impeached.”
Meanwhile, the House committees overseeing the impeachment inquiry continues to issue new subpoenas for ambassador to the European union Gordon Sondland after the state department directed him not to testify before Congress Tuesday, and ask for documents from Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman — two foreign-born men with ties to the president’s personal attorney Rudy Guiliani, who were arrested on Wednesday on a campaign finance charges.
“I believe the Trump campaign can survive this impeachment inquiry, I don’t think it can survive an impeachment trial.”
At least 229 House Democrats have said they support the impeachment inquiry into Trump — more than enough votes to impeach the president.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, though, has said a house vote is unnecessary. A two-thirds majority, or 67 senators, is needed to convict and remove the president from office.
