Fil-Am leaders face off over US involvement in Mamasapano mission

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Terrence Valen, chair of the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON), and Atty. Ted Laguatan, legal counsel for US Pinoys for Good Governance, weigh in on the United States’ role in the botched SAF anti-terror mission in Mamasapano.

US Pinoys for Good Governance has supported US troops in the Philippines, while NAFCON has vocally opposed it.

Most recently, NAFCON sent an open letter to President Barack Obama demanding the US be held accountable in the deaths at Mamasapano.

There is nothing wrong with the Philippines accepting help from America to combat terrorism in the country and it does not violate Philippine sovereignty when the government agrees to it. Still, the Philippines really needs to strengthen their military.
