The Filipino-American husband of President Trump’s senior advisor, Kellyanne Conway, is one step closer to becoming the country’s Solicitor General.
If George Conway gets the job, he could end up defending Trump’s controversial travel ban before the Supreme Court.
George Conway could be the next person in line for the post of solicitor general, after a top contender — conservative lawyer Chuck Cooper — said he doesn’t want the job after witnessing what Jeff Sessions went through to become Attorney General.
As the US Solicitor General, George Conway will act as the government lawyer who argues on behalf of the administration before the high court.
The Solicitor General is a Senate-confirmed position.
The Fil-Am lawyer would have to file financial disclosure forms, and would have to go through a vetting process, before actually bagging the post.
