NEW YORK – Filipino twin brothers in New York committed identical crimes in the same month of October but two years apart.
Christopher Bacayon, 36, of West Babylon, NY was charged with fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run crash on Oct. 16, 2015 that killed a 40-year-old disabled man crossing the road in Suffolk County.
The bizarre thing about the case is that his identical twin, Benedict Bacayon, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a car accident on Oct. 6, 2015, just 10 days before Christopher’s hit-and-run crash.
Benedict was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years probation for crashing his car into a pedestrian and leaving the scene on Oct. 4, 2013.
Suffolk County Atty. Tom Spota said “the odds are astronomical” for identical twins living in the same household to have committed the very same crime.
Judge Fernando Camacho set the bail at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond on March 29.
Christopher pleaded not guilty and is set to be back in court on April 19.
