A young Filipino-American stand-up comedian was named this year’s winner of NBCUniversal’s comedy competition, “StandUp NBC.”
JR De Guzman just landed a one year deal with NBCUniversal, which includes bookings for performances across the country and a headlining gig for this year’s semi-finalist showcases for StandUp NBC.
De Guzman beat 600 other standup comics for this coveted comedy prize.
He was born in the Philippines, grew up in California, and works as a music teacher — while performing his standup comedy.
De Guzman’s debut comedy album “Dual Citizen” will be available later this month on iTunes and google play.
