Fil-Am fans flock to Staples Center to grieve Kobe Bryant’s death

LOS ANGELES — The colors purple and gold have lit up local landmarks in honor of the late Kobe Bryant.

LA’s Staples Center was the house that Kobe Bryant built. Only hours after the basketball legend passed away in a helicopter crash on Sunday, thousands came to celebrate the legendary Los Angeles Laker.

    Kobe Bryan and daughter Gigi attended Sunday Catholic mass, received Communion, one hour before the tragic death. Our Lady Queen of Angels, Newport Beach conducted the service by Father Anthony Vu, a Vietnamese priest. Kobe Bryan grew up in Italy a devoted Catholic.
