NEW YORK — Fil-Am Gina Ortiz-Jones won the Democratic nomination in the 23rd district of Texas primary last May.
The 37-year-old Fil-Am wants to unseat two-term Republican incumbent and former CIA officer, Will Hurd.
If she wins in the November midterm election, Ortiz-Jones will be the first woman, first lesbian, first Filipino-American, first Iraq war veteran to be elected US representative in Texan history.
As Democrats in New York raise funds to help Gina flip the red seat back to blue come November, President Donald Trump is reportedly about to stump for her opponent.
Filipino leaders and other candidates expressed their support.
There are only 5 more months before the November 6 midterm elections, and Ortiz-Jones hopes her win will be a win for all the communities that she belongs to.
