Fil-Am community organizer questions fairness of Trump’s Senate impeachment trial

WASHINGTON DC — While President Donald Trump’s defense team is trying to prove that this is not an impeachable case, House managers are accusing Senate Republicans and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of conducting a “rigged” process.

“President Trump is accused of coercing a foreign leader into interfering in our elections to benefit himself and then doing everything in his power to cover it up. If proved, the president’s actions are crimes against democracy itself,” says Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader (D–NY).

“If Senator McConnell makes this the first impeachment trial in history without witnesses or documents, it will not prove the president innocent. It will merely prove the Senate is guilty of working with the president to obstruct the truth from coming out,” said Rep. Adam Schiff.

At the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, McConnell laid down the “rules” for what he described as “a fair road map” for the third presidential impeachment in U.S. history.

But the Republican-controlled Senate rejected every single amendment requested by the Democrats — including their repeated attempts to subpoena key witnesses and important evidence.

Washington DC community activist and organizer Jon Melegrito questioned the fairness of the Senate impeachment trial.
