Fil-Am college student killed in alleged DUI hit and run

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Filipino American college student is dead following a collision involving a drunk driver early Sunday morning.

Nineteen-year-old Dave Go of Hayward, Calif. was riding in the passenger seat of his  friend’s car when another driver traveling at a high speed rear-ended them at a stop light.

The driver of the speeding vehicle, 28-year-old Paul Butler, attempted to leave the scene, but was caught by police a few blocks away.

Butler is currently in custody for felony DUI, felony hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Go died of major injuries at Eden Medical Center.

He was a student at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and was active with the school’s Filipino organization.

His friends have started a account for his memorial expenses.
