LOS ANGELES — This Christmas, there’s holiday magic in Historic Filipinotown, as Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) held their 2nd annual Christmas toy drive.
After lining up and helping themselves to toys given by volunteers, corporate sponsors, and the Filipino community in Los Angeles, children were eager to play show and tell.
For over 40 years, SIPA has provided services for communities in Filipinotown — especially for low income immigrants families.
“It’s always exciting, and we hope that this continues for years and years to come,” said Dorothy Gamoning, executive director at SIPA. “It’s always a pleasure to see all the kids enjoying themselves.”
FilAms from Hollywood gave out gifts to children, with music provided by Power106 DJ Icy Ice, and free haircuts by celebrity barber JayR Mallari. It was an all-star cast that kept on giving.
“It’s amazing. Good energy. The kids are happy,” said Disney actor Roshon Feagan.
“It’s tons of fun. Some of them are choosy about their gifts, but I love watching the smiles on their faces when they figure out which ones they want. It’s super fun,” said singer Leslie Ann Huff.
